The most current news that I've seen, heard or read about My Bruce Springsteen:

June 25, 2010: Today marks an anniversary for My Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and there are also a whole bunch of reviews about the just released...DVD of the Hyde Park show at last years Hard Rock Calling Festival. If you are wondering about the anniversary than just read on for repostings from this date last year and the 2008 Magic tour, too.

As for the DVD reviews, here is a listing of a bunch that you can read by clicking on the following links.

Was Joe Strummer England’s answer to Bruce?, from The Boston Herald

Of the three official live DVDs from Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band released over the past decade — and you can make that four if you count the Live At Hammersmith Odeon 1975 DVD included with the deluxe 30th anniversary version of Born To Run — this is by far the best of them. Here is why,  from Seattle PI.com.

London Calls Bruce!, from LAist

Bruce Springsteen abhors a vacuum, from The Star-Ledger

At the outset of “London Calling,” the new DVD capturing Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band live at the Hard Rock Calling festival in London’s Hyde Park last summer, The Boss and his longtime bandmates look, well … a little rough. from the GateHouse News

June 25, 2009:HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Ms. Patti Scialfa who joined  My Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 25 years ago and has left as indelible a mark...in rock and roll as could possibly be. She is the woman who has given Bruce much of the sense of belonging as he seems to had searched for for most of his young adult life. There are a great number of songs that Patti has either influenced,  inspired or may be was in the room for so "Here's a few for the missus!"

Always A Friend     Back In Your Arms     Be True      Brilliant Disguise

Girls in Their Summer Clothes     I Wanna Be With You    I'm On Fire    Land Of Hope And Dreams

Mary's Place    Prove It All Night    Red Headed Woman   Save The Last Dance For Me

Surprise, Surprise    The Fuse   Tougher Than The Rest   Tunnel Of Love

Waitin On A Sunny Day    You'll Be Coming Down     Your Own Worst Enemy

The late spring tour hiatus is coming to an end and the fans overseas must be getting pretty excited for the Boss' return. There has been a lot of on line reports about the Glastonbury Festival, where Bruce and the E Streeters are not only the headliners but where Bruce intends to give a full on spectacle. Most acts perform abbreviated sets but the rumor is that a marathon of E Street proportions is expected. TOO COOL! Click here to see the news from the Sydney Morning Herald or here from Undercover, also from Down Under.  And it is encouraging to know that Bruce suffers from the same trials that other parents of teens do, click here to see what I am talking about.

June 25, 2008:Milan is the halfway mark for the 2008...Magic Tour of Europe and the return home of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band for a summer tour of the U.S.A. In preparation for tonight's show in Italy, here are some video links of previous performances by Bruce in Milano:

hey Spanish Johnny,,,              I was spinning round a dead dial

with the same hot blood burning in our veins       a letter come blowin in...

I suppose more will eventually turn up but here are a few YouTube videos from the Antwerp show last Monday:

and when the game is over, I won't walk out a loser...       sometimes on a Friday I'll stop by

from the December 12 2007 show...                                turn it up, turn it up

HAVE A GREAT SHOW MILANO!

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

June 18, 2010: It isn't total silence from My Bruce Springsteen this week and in fact up on his official Sony web site there is a brand new interview with the Boss that you can...check out for yourself by clicking here! The intent is to talk about the new DVD release of last years Hyde Park concert, titled London Calling.

Other news this week has to do with Max Weinberg and his Big Band, which performed in the Pennsylvania Lehigh Valley this past week. Click here to read in The Morning Call how the Mighty One is spending his time between Boss and TV gigs. If you have the chance to see Max and his band, this review suggests that a splendid time will be had by all!

June 11, 2010: A quiet musical week for My Bruce Springsteen but there has been Boss sightings north of the border as…Bruce and Patti are cheering on their equestrian daughter's efforts at a Calgary show-jumping tournament.  Click here for a briefing and photo of Bruce from the CBC web site. And although not really Bruce news I can't ignore an album review of the latest from the Gaslight Anthem either. When the Boss is referenced no less than 4 times in the first 2 paragraphs of an article about another band, well I think that you should just click here and read this for yourself from the CantonRep web site.

In the not news at all category but for grins and giggles, click here to see a side by side comparison of one of the Real Jersey Housewives and a member of the E Street Band. While not exactly a separated at birth thing, this may put a smile on a few twisted minds faces, from the TMZ web site. Politics? OK, we found a bit on that too so click here to read about a recent book titled The Progressive Political Vision Of Bruce Springsteen, authored by Dave Masciotra and posted on the Morningstar web site in the U.K.

Finally and in keeping with the slow news churn this week, it's to the Way Back Machine with Sherman, Mister Peabody and Eddie for a reposting of the 2 night stand that Bruce and the E Streeters performed in Norway at this time one year ago.

June 11, 2009:The best thing about the 2 night stands that My Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band perform in the higher demand venues is that...the locals get a second bite at the apple and that was surely the case last night in Bergen, Norway.  From the opening solo accordion piece that Nils introduces his mates with Du skal ikkje sova bort sumarnatta and through the entire set to a classic cover like Twist And Shout, the great music remains the constant. For a change of pace that has taken place all week, Badlands followed another choice for the opening slot and last night was a chance to Prove It All Night.

The string of shows that are highlighting the newer songs with another back to back pairing of My Lucky Day and Outlaw Pete, way to go Boss! And then the oldies got a chance and as always, we can feel that Spirit In The Night and you know they sure did last night! I found a clip of Johnny 99 from the Tuesday night show so click on that song title for a glimpse.

Deep cuts? Yep, and courtesy of the song requests there was a version of a song that I posted last year from Hershey Park. But last night was the first time on this tour that Bruce called for the blues classic and covered  Boom Boom. And speaking of covers, another infrequently performed request that was played last night was the BITUSA classic Cover Me, COOL!

For the encore set, a rare dropping during this WOAD tour and rather than covering Hard Times, Rosalita  came out and danced with the Nords before closing out with more dance tunes including Dancing in the Dark  before leaving town with a Twist And ShoutNothing to squawk about with this set so click here to see all of the June 10th songs.

Now it is back to the States for a very high profile performance at the Bonnaroo Festival. I think I have a correspondent or 2 lined up for this but feel free to send me not only Bruce but other updates from Tennessee this weekend! Write to me : eddie@mybrucespringsteen.com

June 10, 2009:A great opening night is nothing new for My Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band nor is having to top that opening night...so that's what they'll have to try and do tonight in Bergen, Norway. I know they have it in them and with a nice cut from Tracks as tour debut, the huge crowd of Nords in the Concert Koengen got a nice steady Working On A Dream set.

Nils Lofgren continues to start the show with a traditional accordion intro as the band members take there places and kick off, once again at 150 kph with Badlands and keep up the pace with No Surrender and YAY, My Lucky Day. Tor missed out (surprisingly) in Sweden but Norway know-oh's She's The One

Things got really fun with the requests and stump the bands, as the Boss is keeping Good Lovin as a WOAD standard and causing some delirium with a great sing alongy Hungry Heart. But the debut of Back In Your Arms was the highlight of this show, I'm looking for a link from last nights performance but can only offer a vintage video of this great song, click here to see the Shea Stadium version.

And a staple on the Magic tour, the Bergen crowd got a nice treat with a  ripping version of Because The Night. This rocker was ahead of a dance a thon launched with a string of good time songs featuring of Darlington County, Cadillac Ranch, Waitin On A Sunny Day and The Promised Land. It's is tiring just thinking of these back to back to backs!

A true fan favorite as the Boss takes the Bergenhaus down to The River before the standard set and encore closers, including Bobby Jean and Dancing In The Dark in that encore.

Click here for the opening night set list from Norway!

JUNE 4, 2010: In recognition of the DVD release that My Bruce Springsteen just dropped this week of…the 2009 Hard Rock Calling Festival called "London Calling Live in Hyde Park" here is a reposting from last year. I re-checked the BBC2 links below and they all seem to still be intact. The Hard Rock Calling link does bring you to the 2010 information so you can have an idea on what this years festival (featuring Sir Paul) is looking like so click away freely folks!

You may want to check out these 3 YouTube links too, of the E Street Band at the 2009 Glastonbury festival.

Born To Run        Dancing In The Dark        Working On A Dream

June 29, 2009:Hello, London? That was My Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Calling...and boy oh boy did you guys answer last night at the Hard Rock Calling Festival. After back to back headlining gigs in the U.K. I think that any doubts of the Boss's coolness have been laid to waste. Nothing but top reviews from the Brits about last night and the Glastonbury Festival too.

The Beeb seems to have a tight clamp on YouTube postings of Glastonbury and this is because the BBC did broadcast a lot of the festival and much of Bruce and The E Streeters performance. The Saturday night show opened with a great cover and tribute to Joe Strummer with Coma Girl. After that it was a standard WOAD show, with the exception of Jerseys own Gaslight Anthem getting the thrill of their lives by joining on a mid set No Surrender for both festival shows! Here is a link to BBC2 where (hopefully) the video links are working and if not, well there is a nice group of pictures and the set list for you to check out, click here for the Glastonbury stuff!

And as for London, well another great cover and tribute to Joe Strummer and The Clash with, big surprise, London Calling! Click on that title for the opener and it is mislabeled on YouTube but I found another fan posted video for Out In The Street (it is NOT Incident On 57th Street, sorry to say! The other vid that I found was of Dancing In The Dark as well as a  few seconds of Bruce from the front of the pit and way UP CLOSE! The home page for Hard Rock is really cool too, so click here to check out more of Bruce, Neil Young and the other performers from this awesome show too.

So what about some of the reviews? Well I did find a few so if you want to read what  else besides "the best Glastonbury performance ever", according to organizer Michael Eavis and the 3,000 pound fine he happily paid for the Boss's overtime costs than click here!

And if you want to read about the Hyde Park show, there is a review from The Evening Standard that you can click here to read. And I didn't see the missus there but am pretty sure that Max is doing the London To Los Angeles long haul trip and may be a bit groggy for this weeks Tonight Show's! Click here to see the setlists(s) that Backstreets has posted for Hard Rock! Finally, click here to see a few second of  The Boss on FIRE at Glasto 2009! from a YouTube posting.
